Agaliawamu Munomukabi Women’s Group (AMWG) is the first village SACCO in Mutungo-Nakawa has just marked another incredible milestone: 140 adolescent mothers have successfully completed six months of intensive vocational training!
Empowering Young Mothers with Lifelong Skills
With generous support from our partners, duty bearers, and well-wishers, these young women were trained in a range of income-generating skills, designed not only to provide a means of survival, but a path to financial independence and dignity.
From urban farming and soap making to financial literacy and small business startup, the training focused on practical, life-sustaining tools to help teen mothers build a better future for themselves and their children.
“This program has given me more than just a skill,” said one of the graduates. “It’s given me confidence and hope that I can still dream big and make it happen.”
From Village Roots to National Impact
Two decades ago, AMWG was just a spark a group of housewives determined to help themselves when banks wouldn’t. Today, that spark has lit a fire of transformation.
Our mission has expanded beyond savings. We are now actively addressing some of the most pressing issues facing young people today including limited access to information, economic resources, and decision-making power.
This graduation is not just about certificates or celebration. It is a statement, that teen mothers are not broken, forgotten, or beyond hope. With the right support, they can and will rise.
