Who We Are

Agaliawamu Munnomukabi Women’s Group (AMWG) is a cultural, youth-led nonprofit organization with a registered savings and credit union.

Founded on the principle of empowerment, AMWG equips vulnerable women, youth, and children with the tools, resources, safe environments, and knowledge they need to break the cycle of poverty and build thriving communities.

Through financial inclusion, education, and collective action, AMWG strives to transform lives and unlock a brighter future.

Our mission is to empower vulnerable women, youth, and children by providing access to financial services, education, mentorship, and safe spaces.

Our Core Areas of Expertise

SACCO Programme

We strengthen community-based financial systems by supporting savings groups that provide access to credit, insurance, and financial training, helping families achieve economic resilience.

Education Programmes

We empower youth and women through access to inclusive education and life skills, building a foundation for lifelong learning, leadership, and informed decision-making.

Digital Inclusion & Empowerment

We bridge the digital divide by training young women and youth in essential tech skills such as coding, digital literacy, and innovation for the future of work.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Advocacy

We raise awareness and build community capacity to prevent and respond to GBV, creating safe spaces where girls and women are respected and protected.

Mental Health and Wellness

We integrate psychosocial support and mental wellness into all our programs to ensure holistic well-being and healing for vulnerable groups.

Climate Resilience & Adaptation

We promote environmentally conscious practices, climate-smart agriculture, and adaptive strategies that strengthen community resilience to environmental shocks.

Girls As Frontliners

The girls as Frontliners project is an ongoing initiative that directly combats the critical issues by addressing the limited power of adolescents to make informed decisions around social, economic and health.  The project provides safe spaces for confidence-building, skill development, and the pursuit of economic and personal growth.

Code4Her Project

Under the digital empowerment program, AMWG is on a mission to empower diverse women and girls by unlocking a world of opportunities through acquiring tech skills that are not only captivating but also pivotal for their future careers. This project aims at empowering 200 young people by 2025 with coding skills to help them provide the technical expertise, dedication to deliver exceptional services and support to thrive in the Tech industry.

Kameeza Project

This project aims to increase the capacity of impoverished households to manage their financial resources and withstand shocks to their livelihoods by providing access to three basic financial services – savings, credit and insurance to beneficiaries. The project aims to alleviate poverty and increase the economic well-being of 3,300 households by increasing their capacity to generate income, to manage their financial resources by facilitating the creation of new VSLAs in these communities.

Ghetto Go Green Project

This project aims at strengthening community preparedness, anticipatory action, resilience and adaptation to floods through creating green safe spaces in the slums of Nakawa characterised by urban farming. This create conclusive inclusive environment for the community helping them live a dignified life with opportunities to thrive.

The Silent Pandemic: Combating mental illness among young people

This project aims at combating mental illness and improve mental health among young people in Nakawa through spreading awareness, breaking the stigma and creating partnerships for referral pathways to ease access to mental health services.

The Self-made Woman

This project targets single mothers, child mothers, and unemployed youths. It provides them with industrial and adaptive skills, financial literacy, and start-up resources to promote financial independence.
